Smart advertising in UFC 83 match…or not so smart??

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

Tonight I watched UFC 83, which was a great show.  However the last fight of the night caught my attention more than others.  This was during Jonathan Goulet’s match, which he won, but had advertising on his head (Using spraypaint I think) for a website.  Since I am a marketer I wanted to check out the site to see what it was like, I typed in the correct address and found “this site does not exist”.  I am not mentioning the website because it does not deserve to be mentioned.

Now if you are going to have your website to appear in front of hundreds of thousands, even millions of people (depending on the viewers in this case), you absolutely need to ensure that your site is up and running otherwise it is a complete waste.  The visitors you will receive can be incredibly valuable so make sure that you can satisfy them!

The idea of advertising in such innovative ways can be very effective and quite inexpensive if done correctly.  I highly recommend looking into guerilla marketing techniques for your website or business but make sure that your site is up if you are promoting your website.  Don’t fall into the same issue as Goulet’s advertisers did!

Did you watch UFC 83?  I’m Canadian and found GSP’s fight to be the highlight of the night. I’d be interested in hearing what you thought of the fight or about the mess of advertising that was part of Jonathan Goulet’s head?

To Your Success!
